Counter-Strike 1.6 is a game of economy and geometry. Buy with your team, not with your wallet: five rifles beat four rifles plus one hero. Learn each map's callouts even on casual servers, because positioning discussions only work when everyone names the same places.

Shooting stops when you stop. The first bullet is accurate; movement ruins the rest. Counter-strafe with a quick tap of the opposite key to stop instantly, then fire. Practice this on walls before expecting it in duels.

As a round develops, play the clock. Defenders gain time by holding crossfires; attackers gain it by trading kills. If you take a site, hold the rotation route instead of chasing frags: the round is won by the player who arrives last and alive.
