Half-Life's scripted choreography survives the browser port: marines flank, headcrabs ambush from vents, and the game teaches through level design rather than tutorials. Approach every new area slowly; enemies spawn from directions the level hints at (broken grates, distant sounds) before they arrive.

Weapon roles are strict: crowbar conserves ammo, pistol is precise, shotgun breaks close fights, and the crossbow rewards patience over volume. Learn which enemies resist which damage type rather than spraying uniformly.

The Xen sections change movement rules: bouncing platforms and jumping puzzles replace corridor combat. Keep long-jump boots charged, save before teleporters, and treat falling damage as the level's real opponent.
