Game overview: Grand Theft Auto III
An open-world crime game set in Liberty City, following Claude through missions across a sprawling urban map.
Gameplay tips
GTA III's Liberty City rewards knowing the island loops: Portland's industrial ring, Staunton's vertical streets, Shoreside's highway arcs. Unique jumps and ramp locations matter for stunt bonuses, but the daily bread is route knowledge for taxi, vigilante, and paramedic side jobs.
Missions fail on timers frequently, so scout destinations before accepting difficult ones: know whether the drop-off crosses bridges that raise during chases. Keep a fast car and full armor before randomized rampage missions.
The game's wanted system escalates hard at three stars: lose pursuit through garage paint shops and alley shortcuts, not straight-line speed. On foot, alleyways are survival; the streets belong to the cops at high heat.
